About
Hi! My name is Marina Barber, and I'm an eighteen year old college student enjoying life in Walla Walla, Washington! I am a Seventh Day Adventist and God goes first. I am a girls' counselor at Camp MiVoden and I love working there. I always learn more from the girls than they learn for me! I have a loving boyfriend of two years and he has always been my best friend.
When growing up, I heard so many "life lessons" from my parents and elders. I always wrote off everything they said as trivial and worrisome. As I got older and looked back, I wished that I had gleaned their knowledge. I kind of want to go back to my past and shake myself! But it really is hard to listen to what the adults in our lives have to say, because in all honestly sometimes they forget what it's like to be young, to want to be an individual, to want freedom. Here's where I step in.
I was inspired to write this blog because of a certain cabin-full of girls at Camp MiVoden the summer of 2012. Teen week was a struggle for me. I had to deal with attitudes, tears, and whining. But I also got to share precious moments with those girls, where all of the times I spent banging my head against a wall paid off. They asked me so many questions about subjects that were deep and sometimes embarrassing and scary. They seemed to listen to every word I said and took it to heart, and some of them even came to me after camp for advice on different issues! Whenever we had our in-depth discussions, I always thought, surely someone must have told them this already. And in truth, someone probably had! But sometimes words of wisdom can be harder to accept when coming from somebody far ahead of us in years. I am only a few years older than these girls. So, JoLene, Thalia, Anna, Brooke, Kylie, Aspen, Kelsie, and Lizzy, you're the ones to blame for this blog! (:
I hope you will read everything I have to say in this blog with an open mind and a prayerful heart. I urge you to not take anything I say as the gospel truth, especially in relation to religion and health/fitness. I am not a pastor/theologian, nor am I a doctor, so again, please listen to what I say and mull it over and pray about things. I will talk about my own opinion and my own fitness/nutrition plan, and back up any religion talk with Bible truths. If you have any questions or testimonies/comments, please email me. I will be happy to hear from you and I check my mail daily! click on this link to send me an email.
If you've read down to here, thank you so much. I look forward to sharing my heart with you. God bless!
